BLOG TOUR REVIEW Review for 'Chase Her Shadow' by DK Hood。 Read and reviewed via NetGalley for DK Hood, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous Publication date 9th December 2022。This is the seventh book I have read by this author。 It is also the seventeenth book in the 'Detective Kane and Alton' series but can be read as a standalone。 I have previously read 'Cross My Heart' (book 12 in the series), 'Fallen Angel' (book 13 in the series), 'Don't Look Back (book 13。5 in the series), ' Pray BLOG TOUR REVIEW Review for 'Chase Her Shadow' by DK Hood。 Read and reviewed via NetGalley for DK Hood, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous Publication date 9th December 2022。This is the seventh book I have read by this author。 It is also the seventeenth book in the 'Detective Kane and Alton' series but can be read as a standalone。 I have previously read 'Cross My Heart' (book 12 in the series), 'Fallen Angel' (book 13 in the series), 'Don't Look Back (book 13。5 in the series), ' Pray For Mercy '(book 14 in the series), 'Kiss Her Goodnight' (book 15 in the series) and 'Her Bleeding Heart' (book 16 in the series) and I would highly recommend them all。 I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title。 The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot, Chase Her Shadow is a truly unputdownable crime thriller from USA Today bestselling author D。K。 Hood。 Prepare to be hooked!' I am a huge fan of all three of those authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement。 I am also a huge fan of DK Hood and if this is half as good as 'Cross My Heart', 'Don't Look Back', 'Pray For Mercy', 'Fallen Angel', 'Kiss Her Goodnight' and 'Her Bleeding Heart' it is sure to be a page turning read。 I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture。 I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed。 Hopefully this won't be the first。。。 Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book)。This novel consists of a prologue, 39 chapters and an epilogue。 The chapters are medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed。。。OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case! This book is set in Montana, USA 🇺🇸。  This book is written in a mix of third and first person perspective and the protagonists are Sheriff Jenna Alton, Detective David Kane and the killer。 The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them。 If there are several protagonists you also get to see more of what is going on。 The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing。 It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything。 To have the benefit of both first and third person perspective ensures you don't miss out on anything。OMG!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THIS BOOK and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SERIES!!! D。K HOOD you just keep getting better and better!!! This book is fantastically written and had me hooked from the first page until the last。 DK Hood way of writing is perfectly evocative and she has such a creative imagination!! The descriptions were so vivid and realistic I felt myself feeling the cold and damp and reaching for a blanket to warm me up。 This has got to be one of the best storylines I have ever read!!!! Just when you've read the best book in this series and it can't get any better BANG DK Hood does it again!! OMG the suspense, especially when I thought I knew who the killer left me with my heart in my throat and my pulse racing!! I can't say much more apart from I was thinking along the same lines as Jo and I'm so relieved we were both wrong!!! Needless to say I absolutely LOVED the storyline。 This book is absolutely perfect for any crime lovers as you are literally reading about crime, twists and murder!!! It just does not get better than that!!! Just seriously, I cannot say how brilliant all this book was!!! The storyline is packed with tension, suspense, murder, tension and filled with twists and turns。 I was absolutely shocked when everything was revealed and was not expecting it at all!!! I genuinely thought for once I had actually worked out who it was in this amazing series but YET AGAIN DK Hood proves me wrong!! A HUGE congratulations to D。K Hood, it is getting harder and harder to shock me but you did it well!!! 。 D。K Hood has obviously done her research on police procedurals which is yet another bonus as I've read many crime novels where the authors make massive mistakes due to not doing enough research。 I am ABSOLUTELY LANDED that Jenna and Kane finally got married previously but as with everything in Jenna and Kane's life's nothing can go off without a hitch and my heart absolutely went out to them after a certain event and now I have my fingers crossed they'll get the family they want so bad。 Well, I say that but at the same time I'd be worried about how much a baby would change Jenna and how she works so maybe not。 I'll just have to see just like you will have to pick up this book to find out what made my heart go to my throat and had my pulse racing! This is an absolutely unputdownable page turner and I cannot wait to read the previous and future books in what is promising to be an addictive series。Although this is the seventeenth book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the others。 Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader。 I absolutely LOVED meeting the characters again and they are all realistic and I became completely invested in them。 I love that Jenna is such a strong female lead that has history and has been through so much but doesn't cower and stands strong。 I have  enjoyed watching her relationship with Kane has evolved  and I am looking forward to going back to how they met and moving forward to see where it goes especially in regards to potentially starting a family。 Kane is another fantastic character that I became invested in and I adore how protective of Jenna he is。 The team dynamics worked well and I also enjoyed getting to know more about Rio, Wolfe and Rowley and I look forward to meeting them all again。 I must say my favourite had to be Duke though!!!! What an absolutely fantastic addition, I just love it when pets play such large parts in books。 Regardless of whether you love or hate any of the characters they all work perfectly to make this storyline an absolutely addictive, explosive page turner!!! The majority of the characters have become like friends to me and I'm always sad to say goodbye never knowing when I'll "see" them again so I really hope the next book is being written as I speak。 Hint hunt 😉 DK Hood!!! Congratulations D。K Hood on what promises to be another huge success!!! Very rarely an authors books get better but you have certainly mastered it!!! I cannot wait to get stuck into more of your books and this is exactly why you are one my favourite crime authors!!! Here's to your next guaranteed success 🥂 This book is definitely in my top 5 and considering I've read 1000's this is a HUGE achievement!!! This series is also in my top 3 ♥ Do not start this until you have cleared yours schedules as you will not be able to put it down!! Overall an absolutely addictive, heart racing and unputdownable crime thriller that will keep you up all night。 Genres covered in this novel include Crime Thriller, Psychological Thriller, Police Procedural, Psychological Fiction, Suspense, Mystery, Thriller, Noir Fiction and Crime Fiction amongst others。  I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh, Angela Marsons, Rita Herron, Carol Wyer, Kendra Elliot and anyone looking for a gripping page turner 。  303 pages。This book is just £2。99 to purchase on kindle and £7。99 in paperback via Amazon at time of review which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!! Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook。 Feel free to add me on Goodreads or follow me on my website or Facebook for more reviews #KissHerGoodnight #DetectivesKaneAndAlton  #DKHood #Bookouture #NetGalley #BookReview #BlogTour #BooksOnTour #Goodreads @。ChaseHerShadow @DetectivesKaneAndAlton @DKHood @Bookouture @Bookworm1986 @bookworm86 @Netgalley @Goodreads https://kcmw86。wixsite。com/bookworm86https://m。facebook。com/Bookworm1986/?。。。  https://m。facebook。com/Bookwork86/?__。。。https://www。instagram。com/bookwormwhi。。。https://www。goodreads。com/user/show/3。。。https://mobile。twitter。com/kcmw86 。。。more

I felt just about every sensation while reading this book。 Hood has a way of sucking me into the very heart of the story。First, I shivered with the spookiness of the remote settings and the groaning of the houses plus the dynamics Of the first two crime scenes。Then I was excited at the prospect of what I was certain was going in with Jenna。My toes curled with this sentence about Kane “ "No one touches my wife, mydog, or my truck。" How I love that man!! Another brilliant crime thriller from DK Hood。 It’s great to be back in Black Rock Falls and it’s Halloween so this one is a bit creepy。 A woman is found dead by her friend and at first it looks like suicide, but Wolfe soon determines that she has been murdered。 She was due to go on holiday the next day to put the anniversary of her husband’s death out of her mind and her friend knows she did not kill herself。 Another woman is soon found dead and is linked to the first victim as her husband was Another brilliant crime thriller from DK Hood。 It’s great to be back in Black Rock Falls and it’s Halloween so this one is a bit creepy。 A woman is found dead by her friend and at first it looks like suicide, but Wolfe soon determines that she has been murdered。 She was due to go on holiday the next day to put the anniversary of her husband’s death out of her mind and her friend knows she did not kill herself。 Another woman is soon found dead and is linked to the first victim as her husband was in the same team sent to Afghanistan, but none of the men came home。 Kane and Jenna start the hunt for someone with a military background and know it will be hard to find the killer。 This is a gripping crime thriller with some creepy moments in old secluded houses。 I love this series and can’t wait to read the next book。 Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book。 。。。more

It is seven years since her husband was reported MIA, believed dead, in Afghanistan, so was her pain too much? Medical Examiner Shane Wolfe thinks murder and the death of another widow from the same incident a couple of days later confirms it。I thoroughly enjoyed Chase Her Shadow, which is a tense, exciting read with added spookiness as it is set at Halloween and the widows both lived in remote wooded areas。 The basic premise of the novel is fairly standard for the series, another serial killer roaming Serial Killer Central as Black Rock Falls has become known, but this one feels very different。 I think it’s because there is no anger or savagery and, somehow, that makes it more chilling。 Given the military connection you could say that he’s mission orientated, although quite what that mission is is unclear until the denouement。I have very little imagination so I didn’t really gel with Jenna’s nerves and jumpiness, in fact I found it slightly annoying and out of character, but I think it is well done and that it will unnerve many readers。 That aside, I was glued to the pages as it’s one event after another and there’s precious little time to breathe right up to the end。 The final confrontation scene may not be as violent or heart stopping as some in the series, but it still packs a punch in a more psychological way。 It’s quite disturbing。Chase her Shadow is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending。 。。。more

There are taunt moments in this new book by D。 K。 Hood。 Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane have become involved in several deaths of war widows。 These widows were all wives of soldiers that were killed in Afghanistan seven years ago。 Desperate to find the killer before more wives are killed, the terror continues and even Jenna feels the eyes of evil staring at her from the dark forest。 Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this chilling read。 The comments and review are my honest opinion。

Can you say creepy? Wow! I am always ready for a new Kane and Alton book。 I love this series and all of the characters in the series。 They have caught so many serial killers in Black Rock Falls in recent history that they pegged the town "serial killer central"。 The mood is spooky and eerie as it is Halloween in Black Rock Falls, and women are dying after being mentally tortured for days by someone claiming to be their dead husband。 At first it appears that Willow (the widow of a soldier who was Can you say creepy? I stayed up late into the night to finish this one because I had to solve the mystery even though I was a little freaked out reading this mystery in the late evening hours! It’s Halloween in Black Rock Falls, what could possibly go wrong? 😂Another brilliant read in this series。 A very clever main plot, the unexplained deaths of widows of a group of Marines MIA in Afghanistan。 A very fast paced read, I read this in less than a day。 The subplot has hints of some disturbing things to come and a tease from the beginning too。 Number 17 and still as fresh as a pie from Aunt Betty’s。 I’m so looking forward to the 18th slice

You cannot go wrong with this series。 Thriller, suspense and creepy in so many ways。 Chase Her Shadow delivers all that as well our favorite Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane。 This book takes place at Halloween in what the media (and the readers - ha) declare Serial Killer Central。 Military widows are being murdered all from the same unit。 That means no assistance from the military as the whole unit died。 No survivors。 As Jenna and Dave and team investigate we are treated to noises from You cannot go wrong with this series。 Thriller, suspense and creepy in so many ways。 Chase Her Shadow delivers all that as well our favorite Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane。 This book takes place at Halloween in what the media (and the readers - ha) declare Serial Killer Central。 Military widows are being murdered all from the same unit。 That means no assistance from the military as the whole unit died。 No survivors。 As Jenna and Dave and team investigate we are treated to noises from old houses, twisty roads, hollers with wind tearing through and ghost tales to boot。 We get help from Special Agent Jo Wells and get to meet the computer guru。 What about the info that Wolfe shares with Kane? Scary possibilities。 You could read this as a standalone because if is provided so your not lost, but I highly recommend reading the series in order。 Thank you for the arc。 I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions。 #Chasehershadow #kaneandaton #Dkhood #bookouture #netgalley 。。。more

I really like the covers of this series。 Very detailed。 Chase Her Shadow (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 17) by D。 K。 Hood starts off with a bang。It’s Halloween in Black Rock Falls, and Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy David Kane are called to a small lodge on the outskirts of town。 Jenna is devastated to find the lifeless body of Willow Smith, a military widow whose husband went missing in action and has been presumed dead for years。 And so the story begins。 The story is a bit creepy and fair I really like the covers of this series。 Very detailed。 Chase Her Shadow (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 17) by D。 K。 Hood starts off with a bang。It’s Halloween in Black Rock Falls, and Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy David Kane are called to a small lodge on the outskirts of town。 Jenna is devastated to find the lifeless body of Willow Smith, a military widow whose husband went missing in action and has been presumed dead for years。 And so the story begins。 The story is a bit creepy and fairly fast-paced。 The effects are written well so that you feel right in the middle of the scenes with the characters。The author includes interesting story history。 Another good suspense and story and character-driven plot。 I would recommend starting with book 1 to get to know the characters。 Overall, a good story。 I would recommend it。#ChaseHerShadow #NetGalley @bookouture 。。。more

Just when you think that the serial killer cannot get any colder, D。K Hood serves up a character who was seriously disturbed before PTSD set in。 He is cold, calculated and a loner。 Another great suspense and page turner and reading around Veterans Day, I think it heightened the storyline around the sacrifice of those that serve, the families they leave behind, the connection that is made between those on a team and their loyalty to each other。 The full cast of characters make an appearance and t Just when you think that the serial killer cannot get any colder, D。K Hood serves up a character who was seriously disturbed before PTSD set in。 He is cold, calculated and a loner。 Another great suspense and page turner and reading around Veterans Day, I think it heightened the storyline around the sacrifice of those that serve, the families they leave behind, the connection that is made between those on a team and their loyalty to each other。 The full cast of characters make an appearance and there is a new addition to the ME's office who we will no doubt see more of in books to come。 A happy ending with everyone able to enjoy the Halloween celebrations this time around。 Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC。 。。。more

Why wasn’t this a Halloween release? I flove this series! So book 17, and the cast just seems to get bigger and bigger… so start at the beginning! What did I like? I love the camaraderie of the group but the tension in this book was palpable! I love the cases they solve and the people they help along the way。 This was also the spookiest story by far。 Kane and Alton definitely have their work cut out for them when catching the bad guys! Four stars! Would I recommend or buy? I have this series o Why wasn’t this a Halloween release? I flove this series! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 OMFG。。。。。。When I tell you the last few chapters I was on the edge of my seat!!!! I honestly not gonna lie, I was questioning if Carter was involved。 I feel bad but the way she made him MIA lol。 Then when Jo yelled it's Carter I was LIKE NOOOOO 🤣。 UGH thank God it wasn't。 That would have been a turn for the worst lol。 Did anyone else think Jenna was pregnant the entire time 😬🤔 I feel like that's coming。 Things were hinted lol Love this series and this one was definitely a creepy factor especially OMFG。。。。。。When I tell you the last few chapters I was on the edge of my seat!!!! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture。Widows are dying, found with their MIA soldier husband's purple hearts pinned to them。 The manner of death varies, an attempt made for them to appear as suicides。 A serial killer is preying on grieving widows。 Chase Her Shadow is #17 in the Kane and Alton detective series - while this novel can be read stand alone, I would highly recommend starting at the beginning。 While the p I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture。Widows are dying, found with their MIA soldier husband's purple hearts pinned to them。 The manner of death varies, an attempt made for them to appear as suicides。 A serial killer is preying on grieving widows。 Chase Her Shadow is #17 in the Kane and Alton detective series - while this novel can be read stand alone, I would highly recommend starting at the beginning。 While the plot line itself is entertaining enough, I found myself wondering how these characters were known to one another - the relationships not particularly clear but many of them obviously have a history。 I enjoyed it enough to complete the book but suspect it would have been far more enjoyable had I started with book one of the series。 。。。more

Dani Hi

I love returning to Black Rock Falls。 This is one of my favourite series for various reasons - in this, Book 17 - how are we at book 17 already!! Jenna and Dave are on the hunt for who is killing the wives of seal team members who were lost while on active duty。 Add in Halloween and you have a spooky hood read。 Thanks Netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and the author who keeps giving us awesome reads with this series。 Can’t wait to see what happens next。

I can't believe that we're at #17 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series! Now I've been reading these from the very first #Don'tTellASoul, After every new instalment of life in serial killer central Black Rock Falls, Montana I'm champing at the bit for the next one, Although I'm not sure why anyone with half a brain would actually want to live there,Life for Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane is pretty darned good right now but it's back to business for them when a case comes in, Its Hal I can't believe that we're at #17 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series! What I love about this series is that it feels as if you're catching up with old friends, of where they are in life, seeing just how well they're doing。 We have the dastardly duo Jenna and Dave alongside their regular cohorts and when they need that extra bit of backup they have Jo Wells and Ty Carter from the FBI to call upon。 For the most part they seem to be in pretty decent shape, apart from Ty that is, he seems to need some downtime, to be MIA, although he picked his mThanks to the author D。 K, Hood, #Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC。 All opinions are mine and mine alone 。。。more
